Jazz Jennings: Hernia Surgery (VIDEO)
Jazz Jennings has had surgery to repair his hernia.
The 33-year-old was released from a Memphis hospital earlier this month.
“The Jazz Jennings Hernia Project was started to save lives and save people’s lives,” his mother, Kristy Jennings, told PEOPLE.
“He had a lot of pain and he was going to die.”
The musician, who was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up in Los Angeles, told People that he underwent the procedure at a Memphis Hospital on November 2.
A spokesperson for the Memphis Health Department told People on Tuesday that Jennings’ condition is stable and he is expected to make a full recovery.
The news comes after TMZ reported that the Jazz Jennings Project was a one-year, $2.3 million initiative, with the singer taking in $1.3m in the first six months.
