‘Zellweg surgery could save life of baby who was born with a heart defect’
The mother of a baby born with congenital heart defects was hospitalized in critical condition following surgery for a blood clot that left her with a partial heart defect, the New York Times reported.
The baby, born last year to a man and a woman, was born without a heart and developed a partial defect in her left arm, causing her to lose her ability to breathe, according to the newspaper.
“Zellwerg surgery could be life-saving,” Zellwegger, a nurse, told the Times.
Zellwalger’s family is grateful for the surgery.
“It is a miracle,” her brother, Chris, told ABC News.
